Mage War Era Skyship is a tabletop role-playing game inspired by Chris McDowall's Into the Odd

The concept started from a post on bksy.

If you want to see earlier drafts, there are blog posts you can look at that will give you a pretty good idea at where I was headed in earlier drafts:

Mage War Era Skyship

Return of the Mage War Era Skyship

Cover art is by Storn A. Cook.

The PDF is currently Cover + 24 pages.

The character creation is a bit different than Into the Odd, using d66 tables to tie the character to the anti-canonical, outline of a setting.

Magic is doing its best to be magical and combat is without initiative, with all of the dice hitting the table in a tremendous chaotic flurry.

Included are inspirational tables that can be used to create ideas and flesh out parts of the setting - from Mage War weapons caches to bloody vampire festivals. Also included are blank d6 tables with a short half page of advice about how I like to use d6 tables to create adventures and ideas.

Despite the name, it does not yet have rules for battling skyships but that will be in an upcoming draft.

I gave this whirl with my group, and I found the ideas translated easily over to a different system. It was fun to watch the world begin to build itself from a series of random rolls, and the ideas inspired by what was coming up.
